Residents of The Amsterdam at Harborside recently took time during the holiday season to give back to the community by making donations to The INN, a local charity and soup kitchen. The INN, founded in 1983, serves the needy and homeless across Long Island by providing food, shelter and a wide variety of other services to help individuals and families get back on their feet with dignity and respect. Their network includes 14 soup kitchens, in 21 locations, which serve over 5,000 people each week.
Amsterdam residents offered their support to the cause by donating homemade gifts such as decoupage vases with silk flowers, holiday ribbons, handmade carts, teddy bears and more. Several colorful blankets and hats were also donated curtesy of The Amsterdam Knitting Club. After making their contributions, residents were given a tour of The INN’s soup kitchen, guest boutique and volunteer area with Dorian Stern, Development Director of The INN.
