Message from the Emergency Management Team to The Amsterdam Residents

As you have no doubt heard, Governor Cuomo issued an additional executive order today that took effect on SUNDAY.

He has told New Yorkers to stay indoors as much as possible and told all non-essential businesses to keep all their workers home.

The Amsterdam at Harborside is an essential “business” and our employees will continue to come to work. We are grateful to them for that.

The Governor has now ordered “healthy” people under 70 years of age to limit their outside activities. And he ordered stronger restrictions for people 70 years of age and older, people with compromised immune systems and people with underlying illnesses.

FOR YOUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS IN OUR COMMUNITY, I cannot emphasize strongly enough the importance of remaining within our community unless it is medically necessary to go out.

I also want to reiterate the importance of asking your family members to refrain from visiting you, or you leaving the facility to visit family and then returning here.

That’s why the best defense we have is to faithfully follow the precautions we have put in place to keep everyone safe.

I know this seems restrictive and burdensome at times, but it is absolutely crucial. This situation will not go on forever, but right now we all need to do our part to keep everyone safe.
