Famed actor and author Henry Winkler visited with local seniors at The Amsterdam at Harborside last week. During the presentation, Winkler discussed his struggles with dyslexia, his career in film and television, his second career as a children’s book author and his passion for charitable and humanitarian interests.
October is National Dyslexia Awareness Month, and a representative of The International Dyslexia Association’s Long Island Branch also attended and was honored during the event. The organization provides Long Island students with dyslexia the specialized education tools they need to succeed. In conjunction with Winkler’s visit, The Amsterdam senior living community donated some of Winkler’s children’s books to The International Dyslexia Association’s Long Island Branch.
