Update from Brooke Navarre, Executive Director

Many thanks to staff and residents who have been vigilant in following the strict protocols throughout our community. Although we do not fully understand the coronavirus, we all know how easily this virus spreads, therefore, these protocols will remain in place for now. However, we are in the process of creating the first phase of our “new normal” and we will update our residents soon. As always, the health and safety of our Harborside family is our number-one priority.

We do not have any current COVID-19 cases in Independent Living, Enriched Housing or Memory Support. We have four current COVID-19 affected residents recovering in the Tuttle Center. This number includes all levels of care and two outside admissions.

As you may already be aware, Governor Cuomo signed Executive Order 202.30 requiring mandatory staff testing twice a week. As a result, we were required to submit our own plan as to how we will comply with this order. Our plan has been submitted to the Department of Health and is currently in effect.

As of now, we have three asymptomatic staff members who have been removed from the schedule. Due to our current protocols of social distancing, personal protective equipment and hand washing, residents should not be affected. However, as a precaution, we will suspend apartment housekeeping services for one week pending results from all staff testing.

This weekend, all patio furniture will be placed on the North Patio and set up with the appropriate social distancing. We request that residents do not move these chairs.

Our Resident Ambassadors are available if needed.

We thank those who have written beautiful letters to us. They have helped maintain staff spirits.
